Rocky Run

Sale Price: $225.00 Original Price: $450.00

11×14 oil painting on cradled gessoboard, painting on location at Susquehanna State Park in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Currently FRAMED but also available unframed with edges painted black. Satin varnished for depth and protection.

This was the first painting I did for my first juried art show with Harford Plein Air. It was Independence Day weekend and Joe and I couldn't wait to scramble down to the creek with all our stuff and make the most of it. We had it made in the shade. I set up on a perfectly flat rectangular rock in the middle of the creek while he chilled in a hammock and got some incredible drone footage. It was nice to be visited by all the happy families who came to splash around on the natural waterslide. All around a very pleasant Independence Day weekend.

This place is very interesting for its towering rock formations and the run underneath it. The rocks in the creek are perfectly smoothed, like a waterslide. This part of the park is a summertime oasis, I have lots of memories here and I got to watch other families making theirs as I painted. Perhaps you have memories here too, at the heart of Rocks Run, swimming in the pools or hiking down to the waterfall.
