Bridge to Another World
12×16 Oil on Cradled Gessoboard, painted on location at the Broad Creek Public Landing, near the Mason Dixon Trailhead. Currently FRAMED but also available unframed with edges painted black. Satin varnished for depth and protection.
This little bridge is shrouded in mystery. It’s clearly handmade with an artist’s craftsmanship, from the carved patterns to the crystal quartz inlay. It’s a little piece of fantasy tucked away off the beaten path. There’s nothing denoting who made this bridge or why, just a piece of art jutting out of the earth to help you cross a tiny brook, and a path that leads to abandoned cabins. There’s a story here and I’d love to know what it is.
Regardless, it's a nice place to be, it's been so hot I was happy to be down by the creek where it's cool and there were all kinds of little mushrooms popping out of the moss where I sat. I got to watch birds bathe themselves under the bridge and kayaks launch into the lake. This place really sparks my imagination and I wanted to make this painting to take you there too.
